Super foods - GOMBBS

I love the new title of "Superfoods".  Whenever I hear it, I instantly want to fill my diet with these foods.  I am not entirely sure what makes something a "superfood" or who gets to decide which foods make the cut.  I have also figured out that there are different categories of superfoods.  One group is for your heart, one group to reduce the risk of cancer, one group for the most nutrition, I'm sure the list goes on.

This list of superfoods is from Dr Furmann from his book called "Disease Proof".  That catches your attention, right there.....  Who doesn't want to be disease proof?  If these foods will help out, let's do it.  I've never read the book, and probably won't........ but I love lists and I love food.

Greens - Green leafy vegetables.  Lettuce, spinach, beet greens....
Onions - I cook with onions almost everyday, I must be almost disease proof.
Mushrooms - I love them, except raw.
Berries - Blueberries especially.
Beans - Just started eating them a couple of years ago, but am trying to eat more.
Seeds - Flax seeds, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds.  He also includes nuts (thank god, because I do not eat a lot of seeds)

Wthout trying, I ate 5 of the 6 yesterday (if peanut butter counts in the seeds and nuts category).  I'm on my way :)

  1. Greens - easy to include in our program - Onions - lots of those delicious versatile veggie - Mushrooms - Nappy likes them for breakfast so that's easy - Berries - a little harder because they ate expensive and I am not too crazy about "Blues" - Beans - a frontier and a new challenge for me - Seeds - somewhat interesting ( carraway on cabbage salad ) sesame on tomato/cheese casseroles
